Posted by alt, so please feel free to skip. I am just so sick of what we have turned into, that I need to vent.
Let me just start by saying that suggesting petitioning is even more amazing than other things I will rant about later on. This to keep things in context. Wow.
I find it most strange how different some (not all) pirates are in Eve compared to pkers in other mmoprgs.
The reds in UO seem to be the most caring crowd when it comes to the game and the community. Sure, we still kill everything that moves or stands still. But speedhackers and other lamers trying to pass as the real thing are just frowned upon as wannabes that they are. It is very tough to kill a well equipped person that is using pots in UO post AOS. Not at all unlike it is tough to kill a person that is ready to fight/run in Eve.
We don't only kill the n00bs that are obviously clueless, but more importantly we try to make them see the larger picture. Nothing like a resurrection and a moment of chatting with a shard celebrity to put the nooblet on right track on understanding why pking is, and why it must always be an integral and cherished part of these games.
Option would be to be stupid and do what Tank and his behindlicking homeboys do in Eve. After being treated like that in UO, the same nooblets would run back to Tram as ghosts and get schooled by the people that have never PvPed about the "griefing" pkers ruining the game for "honest" players. Way to go! Wonderful way of ensuring the survival of the play style.
Can you people defending the "a bug got me"-dude here see the similarities? That is why your good valid and important points are falling on deaf ears, Jash. You keep demeaning them in these lame topics. A large portion of (which is not the same as all, btw) people will never listen to you because they have no idea that you could possibly be right, afterall, you're with the lamer. They have seen what Tank does, and jumping to a system facing a black screen and waking up in a cloning facility is not anyone's idea of fun or excitement - or a fight. It has nothing to do with forcing people to fight, it has everything to do with forcing people to die and those two things have little in common.
After those experiences they have been taught by "the other people" their own "truth" about griefers, and this crowd of pacifists is geting bigger. Gee, who's fault is that? It is all on you, Jash, and people like you who do understand the real problems, but keep using them to defend lamers with them, instead of simply communicating them to people that will still hear. That is the nooblets, the ones that Tank and his homeboys send the other way to be taught exactly the opposite. Surely you must understand that after that, they are lost to the cause.
What Jash Illian is communicating in my opinion is the most important thing in this thread. It is what this all boils down to. Tank is driving the exactly opposite direction here, yet Jash always comes to any thread defending Tank. What Tank is doing fits into those points of Jash, but his actions contradict the purpose of actually ever getting them fixed in game, in reality.
Why not just stick to your valid points, including the ones that go 180 degrees against what Tank and his homeboys are doing? And just leave the "it was a bug"-dude to handle his own frequent and quite amusing messes? Why drag ourselves, and not to mention the crucially important points down with him? It makes no sense. We have no obligation to him. Those are important things and valid points, but they are constantly buried under the noise generated to defend and cloud yet another self-humiliation by Tank.
Just step out of his shadow already. It's a very small shadow, and it seems very crowded there.
I am so sick of the hopelesness of the situation, and even more so because all we seem to accomplish is to shoot ourselves in the foot over and over again, in vain defense of one lamer, because he is "family". |
